Created and bottled by the team at the Yorkshire Dales Distillery, this gin is quadruple distilled and vapour infused to give it its distinctive smooth flavour. With mineral water from Swaledale, the wildest and most unspoilt part of the Dales, spicy orange, cardamom and, of course, juniper, this classic gin evokes the spirit of Yorkshire - and can hardly fail to delight.
The team at the Yorkshire Dales Distillery provided these tasting notes:
Nose. Rounded, soft tones. Prominent juniper and cardamom notes. A delicate bloom of orange blossom, followed by warm sweet spice.
Palate. Silky, tactile and sweet to start. Burst of clean cinnamon and juniper spice, with orange and grapefruit. Medium to light body. Rounded with delicate fragrance of honeysuckle.
Finish. Long and balanced. Peppery juniper body, followed by mellow resolve of sweet nuts.
Colburn, Yorkshire Dales
Family run craft distillery on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, established by husband and wife pair, Tony and Sarah.
They set up the the distillery in a small village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, near the home they have lived in for most of Tony's army career.
They develop, distill and bottle at the premises, taking the process from end-to-end. The spirits are produced using traditional techniques and are created in very small batches - sometimes as few as 50 bottles at a time!
To give back to the community they call home, the couple is committed to hiring and training veterans, ex-offenders, young people and the long-term unemployed.
