London Cocktail Week is nearly upon us. As the biggest and most vibrant celebration of London’s amazing cocktail scene, it’s the biggest event of its kind in the world. There are over 300 bars signed up and a week-long cocktail village to top it off. There’s something for everyone – from gin lovers to whisky fanatics – and it’s all over London. We’ve picked out 5 of our favourite cocktails that we’ve spotted from around London to celebrate. To get involved all you need to do is purchase a digital festival pass for £10 here which will give you discounted £6 cocktails at 300 bars, and free unlimited entry to The Cocktail Village.
First up, we have ‘The Great Dictator’ by @demonandwise which is a great mix of Old Tom Gin, Sloe gin, yuzu juice, and apricot shrub. Old Tom gin is a slightly sweeter gin which along with the sweeter sloe gin, perfectly compliment and offset the citrus flavour of yuzu and the vinegary flavour of the apricot shrub. Shrubs are all the rage at the moment and are a great acidic addition to any drink, often being used as an alternative to bitters. Get down to Demon, Wise & Partners on Throgmorton St, EC2N 2AN to get your hands on The Great Dictator for only £6 with a digital festival pass.
Second up, we have a low ABV creation by the team @disreputebar. Low ABV and no alcohol cocktails are growing in importance in both the food and drink worlds as people become increasingly aware of the levels of alcohol they’re drinking. This is a mix of a 12 year old rare blend Appleton Estate Rum, melon liqueur, mint, lime, tonic water and an aperol float. It’s a great refreshing drink that you can get using your pass at Disrepute on Kingly Street, W1B 5PW
One of the best looking cocktails on the scene at the moment, showcased here by @londonscocktails and @addiechinn from @lookingglasscocktailclub . This is one foamy cocktail called The Buffalo Formula which mixes up Buffalo Trace bourbon, sweet vermouth, fermented barley coffee, cocoa nibs and almond air foam. This gives the cocktail a great mix of bitterness from the coffee and chocolate. Get down to the Looking Glass Cocktail Club on Hackney Road, E2 7NX to try it out!
If you fancy a game of mini golf during the week, check out @SwingersLDN who have venues in the West End and in the City. They’ve shaken up the Anna Pavlova cocktail which is made with Bison Grass Vodka, apple, lime, elderflower, and egg white! Be sure to book if you want to get a round of golf in!
Last up we have one of the brightest looking cocktails by @hotelcaferoyal. The Mint Fizz, which is their twist of the classic Ramos Fizz, is their showstopping cocktail for London Cocktail week. The classic Ramos Fizz is made of gin, lemon juice, lime juice, sugar syrup, orange flower water, egg white, single cream and soda water. They’ve mixed up some mint liqueur and some fresh mint leaves in to give the cocktail a sweet freshness that offsets the dairy in the classic Ramos Fizz. Check it out at the Hotel Café Royal just off Regent Street!
